Honeywell Ademco 5839 Product Review
SECTION 1

Ademco 5839 Wireless Keypad

ADEMCO's 5839 Wireless Alpha Keypad cuts installation costs to a minimum, since no wires are required to be run. Now, secondary keypads work compatibly with any VISTA system installation where wiring is either time comsuming or difficult. The 5839 supplies homeowners with all of the features of a traditional hardwired keypad using an easy-to-read, 32-character display and 4 function keys for easy, single-button operation.

The 5839 requires a 5883H Wireless Transceiver, which permits it to operate as a totally wireless bi-directional keypad. The 5839 takes power from a 9V battery (included), and an optional AC adaptor can be used for "always on" operation where users receive real-time alarms and status. The handy, portable design enables costomers to use it anywhere in the home.

FEATURES: No wires to run, making installation more economical Free standing or wall mounted on any flat surface in the home Big, bright 32-character display provides zone information and system status in clear English, simplifying system operation Powered with a 9V battery that comes with it or an optional AC adaptor for always on status Compatible with all VISTA controls by using a 5883H Receiver

Personal observation on this product is that the fact you have to buy a 5883H receiver makes this a little more expensive option than the 5828 wireless keypad. Transmission range to arm/disarm is great, but the status/feedback range has a lot to be desired. Generally speaking, if you get beyond 35 feet you take a chance on getting feedback at all.
