| SECTION 1 |
Wright's Auto Sales Poor people just get the shaft from places like this. We showed up on Preston Highway in Louisville at this place because they had a vehicle that looked to be fantastic. It was a older model vehicle of 1997, but only had 116,000 miles on it & they advertised it in mint condition. We got a good story that some old lady wanted to buy this vehicle & she had it checked out by a mechanic. She was going to buy it, but her credit fell thru. We showed up at a good time because this vehicle won't last long. Now I know the old story that you should take the vehicle to a mechanic before you buy it. When your poor, every dollar seems like a lot & showing up on a mechanic's doorstep to have it checked out would cost pretty good. We drove it & the interior was in great shape, but hardly mint. They gave us this little key to use. He said the little old lady ran off with the other one, so they had to have a special one made. It seemed to run fine, but there was this groaning noise that sounded like it was coming from the back. When we asked the dealer about it of course he blew it off - "it must be just the tires" he said. Normally I would have walked away at that point, but our current vehicle was having such problems that it could not be trusted driving. If this is something little we would fix it. When I asked for the previous owner's number he said he would have to dig up the title, he didn't have it at the moment, but it would have a address, not a phone number on it.
We took the chance & bought the vehicle. The noise continued & 2 weeks after buying the thing the radiator started leaking real good.
After doing further research, that groaning noise was more likely a wheel bearing. Both repairs to these things would more than likely cost me around $700. So much for something little to fix.
Now this wasn't the end of it. I did some investigative work on my own & dug up the previous owners phone number.
I called & got the scoop from his wife, who really didn't drive it that much, but she thought she would know enough about it to tell me things.
She didn't remember the noise or radiator, but they did have the transmission worked on once because it would not go in reverse.
I wasn't having that problem, so I didn't dwell on it, but it would have been nice if the saleman told us this if he knew about it. You can read into this story & take it as you will, but I have a feeling you will think, as I do, that this place was a scammer's business.
