Verizon Palm 700WX PDA Smartphone Review
SECTION 1

Verizon's Palm Treo 700WX

The good: The Treo 700w runs Windows Mobile 5 and sports the same great, compact form factor of the Treo 650. This smart phone also comes with Bluetooth, a 1.3-megapixel camera, and EV-DO support. If you know how to navigate Windows Explorer then you can navigate exchanging files on this phone. Placing mp3 files on your phone & using them as ringtones is as easy as it gets. The speaker phone is nice and loud, and I like the voice dial feature. Not only can you call out with voice dial, but when someone on your contact list call you then it will announce their name. If you have a GPS, then you can take advantage of the bluetooth for dialing locations on the fly, if you gps has this capability. The keypad is extremely easy to use & there all the time to use with one hand. The phone/video recorder is easy to use, though I wish it was more of a one button deal.

The bad: Unfortunately, the Treo 700w doesn't include integrated Wi-Fi and this aggrivates me to no end. I'm not sure how they could produce a phone that has everything else on it, but not Wi-FI. Also the size is rather large for phone these days. If you have it outside of a case it really doesn't look that big, but p[lace it in a leather case & kust that little extra size will sometimes draw comments. I've been called a dork/geek at work with this thing on my hip. Another bad thing is when someone calls the phone lights up & everyone can see it, as it is rather bright. If there was one thing I could change with the design it would be a way of having it on my belt with the screen facing toward me, for protection and privacy, without having to place it in a enclose case.

The bottom line: The Palm Treo 700w brings Windows Mobile and a number of useful features. The functionality is great It is a little heavy you need to buy a wi-fi card to have that ability, which is is greatest downfall. Overall though, a great phone.
