| Denny's Dutchman's Lane Louisville, Ky. Review |

| SECTION 1 |
Dennys I used to eat at Denny's all the time. The food was pretty good. Recently, after moving to Louisville, I was able to check out the Denny's on Duthman's Lane. They always seem to be somewhat busy, but the wait to sit down was never realy that bad. The waitress came by in a timely matter & took our order. The time to get our food seems to vary from one visit to another, but overall it wasn't that bad either.
Let me say that when the food comes out, it is just as good as I remember food at Denny's of years past.
My wife likes the Western Omlett & I always get a Grand Slam or something like that. When it came time to take out ticket to the front counter to pay, however, this pleasant visit started to go sour.
I waited to pay my bill. I waited some more, then some more, then a little while longer. Now this pleasant experience has become a annoying one & I'm wondering what is wrong with these people.
It is a good thing I am honest, as I wanted to just walk out see if they would come get their money then!
As I said before, I like their food & so does my wife. Two weeks later we thought we would give it another try.
We got seated quicky & served at a decent time. When it came time to pay the bill here we go again - held up by nobody coming to collect the money.
We see people scurrying about in the back & even coming up front, but nobody stops to collect money from anyone. The people in front of us started talking to other patrons about "wonder if this food was free?" and "where are they?".
We litteraly stood in line 15 minutes to get someone to start taking money from paying customers. How stupid is this?
Here is a thought, my wife would call in an order & I would grab it on the way home for takeout. This should be better as it is not the breakfast crew & the food should be ready, as they were never slow before.
Well, let me tell you, it was no better. I was greeted fairly quickly & told the girl I was here to pick up an order. I was promptly told it would be ready in a couple of minutes, and she walked off.
Meanwhile, a nice old lady walked up to pay for her dinner. I sat on the bench & watched as she waited, and waited, and waited some more. Staff came & went & acted oblivious to the fact this lady was standing there, not to mention the 2-3 other groups that have now formed behind her.
Finally the old lady spoke as loud as she could "Can I please get somebody to take my money so I can leave!". Finally, someone came up & started to help the old lady. She didn't seem to know how to operate the register & had to call the manager to get help.
Where he had been this whole time was anybody's guess. One would imaging that he only comes out of his mouse hole when something is wrong, otherwise he is a absentee landlord, so to speak. I just can't imagine a knowing manager seeing a line of people waiting to give money & nobody there to take it.
Needless to say, my few minutes ended up take half an hour to pick up an order that was called in 20 minutes before I even arrived.
Whatever reason, this place has a habit of turning a otherwise pleasant experience of good food into one that leaves a bad taste in my mouth. The reason can lead to nowhere but the manager for not seeing that customers are not taken care of from the time they walk in the door till the time they leave. It is a shame.
