As a American I think we should be able to do anything our heart desires as long as it does not hurt other people. I've grown up thinking that cops were our friends and they were here to protect and serve, as their moto says. Over the past years I've started seeing this trend of the Government, and the Law, infringing on my rights and freedom. They do this to protect us, from us, they tell us.

In several states in this country, like Virginia, it is illegal to have a radar detector. I found this a little ironic, seeing as Virginia was one of the first states in this country & stood for liberty at one time. After all, if somebody is shooting a beam into my airspace it would seem like I would have a right to know about it. This may seem like a little silly statement, but its just the start if you read on. I was once pulled over & given a ticket, not for speeding, but for having a radar detector in the car. I had to ask myself - who was I hurting?

There have been smoking laws enacted across the country. On the surface this seems a little mean & infringing on someone's right to do with what they want. After all, it is their body. But, to a point, it effects the health of those around the smoker. I cannot complain, as I have asthma, that second-hand smoke bothers me. What they are doing lately is taxing the crap out of cigarretes though, and I think that is wrong. They've crossed the line again in infringing upon personal rights because they think it is for our own good. I don't even smoke & I think this is wrong.

Now here comes this Click it or Ticket Law. Lets see, seat belts save lives. Yes, I can agree with that.
But let's look at this again. I'm driving down the road in a piece of property that I have, or am, paying for. This piece of property is rolling on tires that I paid for. Those tires are rolling on pavement that my taxes paid for. If I am not endangering the people around me by not wearing a seat belt - then stay off my property!

This is a Public Relations screwup all the way around. The economy is the worst it has been since the great depression. Unemployment is over 10% and climbing. People have lost their life savings. Social security will not be there for many of us. And some jerk of a cop wants to pull more money out of my pocket over a pork law to bring in more money for the government.

I've been pulled over, not for speeding, not for driving drunk, not for driving aggressively, but for not wearing a seatbelt. I am being passed by people on motorcycles not even wearing a helmet, without any protection at all, and I'm the one getting pulled over. Don't get me wrong, I want a motorcycle myself, so thats not the point. The point is that the seatbelt laws are just another pick on this person law because it is for their own good.
The police can dangerously drive 60mph to get a donut, without any lights or sirens, but I can't mind my own business at a safe speed without a seat belt on.

Their argument for all of this is they are trying to save lives & that everybody's insurance rates are high because of accidents. Again, this is my life & I am not endangering those around me. This law is B.S. As far as insurance rates go - are you kidding me? Do you really think your insurance is going to be lower from everybody wearing a seatbelt? Because of this law, 83% of Americans are now wearing seatbelts. Has your insurance gone down? I didn't think so. Leave me alone!

The seatbelt laws have turned people away from the police. Speeders, drunk drivers, muders, rapes, robberies & what are you doing today officer? Yes, your waiting or hiding like a weasel & giving people tickets for a seatbelt. Nice job. I feel so much safer now.
You take people that respect what you do & turn them against you by enforcing a communist law like this one. What a Public Relations Screwup this is. Never there when you need them & always there when you don't. This is a old saying that rings true every time you see someone pulling people over for something like this.

It was radar detectors, smoking, seatbelts. What are you going to fine me over next? Do you see a trend here? Overweight people drive up insurance rates. Are they next on whats good for us? Some idiot in government has already tried to tax things with sugar in it. We soon will not be allowed to eat what we want either. This country isn't what it used to be & these pork laws are a disgrace to what this country was founded on.

It is a shame that with all the crimes going on that cops will invade a person's privacy in their own can by giving out tickets for forgeting to put their seat belt up (or for whatever reason) and letting a vechile that is speeding get by. Especially on holidays. This is just a way of racking up money or getting a brownie point. This is not taking a chance on anyone's life if you believe in God. These so called do gooders are taking food out of childrens mouths, sticking their nose where it does not belong. So many people are over-weight now because they cannot afford the right foods. Seat belts do not save lives. Come on you guys. In some cases they actually cause wrecks and deaths. Never hear about that on the news. Never a cop around when you need one. These cops and laws are more harmful than good. Everyday the news is full of crime and every time I am on the road I see all the cars speeding and where are the cops then. When a persons time comes and that is up to God, they will go and if it is not there time they will not. Not a darn one of you cops pay for my car, insurance, food or any other bill but you will tell me what I can do inside my own car. SAD Hope you all have a nice and happy time together and that your family has whatever they need. You and your family have the necessities off of someone that doesn't have this. Think of how you got the money. This is the same as stealing. I personally have a medical condition that prevents me from wearing one but do you care. The answer is NO because that requires a heart and believing in God. Law inforcement ........don't think so. You only have a title which means nothing unless it is used for the right things.
